America - Blast strikes UK consulate in US

The BBC reports "Police say they have found fragments of an explosive device after a blast outside the UK consulate in New York. "

A spokesman for the New York Police Department said a device was detonated in one of the cement flower boxes used as a barrier outside the building.

CNN has more.

NEW YORK (CNN) -- An "improvised explosive device" made from a "novelty-type grenade" has exploded in front of the building that houses the British consulate in New York City, police said.

As in IED.

A developing story, so we'll have to wait and see who claims responsibility.
